I don’t know about you, but I am ALWAYS looking for quick and easy snacks I feel good about feeding my family. I am a weirdo and LOVE making a lot of the food we eat at home from scratch because then I know exactly what ingredients are going into the food! This year after adding another baby to the family and running my business from home…my extra spare time to make snacks is FEW and FAR between (and I am SURE you can relate!)
I recently reached out to a company after I found them scrolling Instagram one day. I stumbled across this company called “Welo.” I noticed right away that their granola bars had added probiotics in them and that intrigued me!
I am all about probiotics or anything that makes food easier to digest or aid in overall gut health. SIDE NOTE: Anything SOURDOUGH (like all of the donuts I make) has been broken down and fermented which makes it easier for your body to digest. Probiotics and Fermentation are two topics that get me equally as excited. 🙂
I continued to look into Welo’s products and noticed that all of their regular sized granola bars and their kids granola bars were really low in sugar. The kids bars only have 2 grams of sugar and the adult sized bars have only 3 grams of sugar. Now compare that to what a standard granola bar has, it’s an average of 10-12 grams of sugar per granola bar. YIKES!
The two biggest reasons why I wanted to try them:
They are really low in sugar
They had added probiotics in them
These things are two huge WINS in my books. I was SURE I was going to love their products, so I did something I have never done before. I reached out to the company and asked if they would send me some products so my family could test them and then let YOU know what we thought of them.
To be honest, I was a bit nervous because I would NEVER share anything that;
- I didn’t LOVE
- didn’t taste amazing
- I didn’t feel good about feeding my family
- I wouldn’t purchase myself
But, there was nothing for me to be nervous about! Their products are absolutely delicious! Some of the flavours don’t taste as sweet as others but for MY family that is A.O.K. The only thing I will note is that if you and your kids are USED to things that are pretty sweet, then you might notice these being a bit less sweet. I can tell you that my little guy Micah had no idea and he was so pumped about them. They come in the cutest little kids sizes and because granola bars aren’t in our house hardly EVER, he thought they were the greatest treat in the world.
We shared a few bars with some different families we had play dates with and all of the kids loved them! I gave a few of the adults sized bars to my mom friends and they all said they loved them as well.
They sent me these flavours and they were all fantastic:
- Matcha Almond
- Peanut Butter Chocolate
- Coconut Cashew
- Chocolate Chip
- Peanut Butter
- Activated Charcoal
- Chocolate Chip (kids sized)
- Apple Cinnamon (kids sized)
- Cocoa Banana (kids sized)
My absolute favourite flavour was the Matcha Almond, my husband’s was the Activated Charcoal, and the kids favourite were all Apple Cinnamon.
Not only are they low in sugar and contain probiotics, but they are also a Canadian company. Every product they sell supports water, education, or food projects in Kikima, Kenya! You can read more about the ways they give back on their website under “Giving Back.“
Would I recommend them?
Absolutely! All of the granola bars they sent us were super delicious. They have lots of other great products on their website that I have not personally tried, but they are worth checking out! This company has me sold on their quality and care they put into their products. I 100% highly recommend them! Overall, they seem like a great company and I am very happy to support them.
I have found their granola bars in the natural aisle at Superstore if you wanted to find them locally in Regina, Saskatchewan.
